I am a forever hunchback, like the witches of lore, and I am okay with that. I am someone who needs to sit down and someone who will likely need to be medicated my entire life, and I still wear a back brace every day. I am not as okay with the many cascading musculo-skeletal issues that come with scoliosis, but that’s the body and life I was born into.

I was first drawn to this book by the title on its spine. All the Dead Lie Down jumped out at me like a plea to be read.

I walk my dog around a beautiful neighborhood in southern Ashland, OR. Spikey Victorians interspersed by wide Craftsman and mid-century flat-roofed houses, a patchwork of the architectural history of this town. As I walk, I notice someone has painted “Stay Angry” on the sidewalk. A few more blocks, and there it is again: “Stay Angry”.
